Crafty Calender Challenge - Spring Clean..

It's the first Saturday of the month so that means there's a new challenge over at Crafty Calender Challenge.

The theme for this month is "SPRING CLEAN" so it's time to get out all those unused stamps and forgotten stash. We also have the optional extra of including handmade embellishments on your projects this month.

Creative Craft Challenge - Valentines

Happy Valentines Day to everyone. My OH actually remembered this year. I received theatre tickets, a selection of DVD's, he fetched me from work and had a bunch of flowers with him and now he's cooking tea for me. I need to investigate what has happened to my Martyn... I think he may have been abducted by aliens and replaced by a clone.

We're all feeling the love over at Creative Craft Challenge so this fortnights challenge is Valentines Day.

Crafty Calender Challenge - Love and Marriage with Lace and Pearls

The snow has finally arrived in my little part of the West Midlands. I managed to get home from work before too much of it had arrived, so now I think I'll curl up on the sofa and try to stay warm.

It's the first Saturday of the month so time for a new challenge over at Crafty Calender.

It's the 31st January and I think winter has finally arrived.....It's so cold..... I could easily have stayed wrapped up in bed this morning instead of getting up at 6.00am to get ready for work.

Creative Craft Challenge - We've all turned blue.....

It's time for a new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenge and for this fortnight we have a colour theme, we've turned blue.....it must be the cold weather.

I know Christmas is long gone but blue makes me think of winter so I just had to make a Christmas card (it is one of my resolutions this year to make a couple of Christmas cards a month to avoid the usual mad rush with a week left to go and then the panic that I'm not going to get everything done... we'll see how long this resolution lasts).

Creative Craft Challenge - New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year to everyone. My first post for 2012, I hope everyone had a great Christmas, for me it was over too quickly. I had nearly 3 weeks off but I went back to work today so it's all now a distant memory.

I am a little bit late with this post, I was planning on it being earlier than this but we had major Internet problems at work (it obviously thinks it's still on holiday) but better late than never.

This is our first challenge for 2012 over at Creative Craft Challenges and the theme for this fortnight is "New Year Resolutions".

My resolutions are the pretty much the same every year: eat less, exercise more, spend less and organise my time better so I decided on a wall hanging to remind of the trouble I have keeping them.

Creative Craft Challenge - White on white

Is everyone ready for Christmas yet? I still need to finish my wrapping, write some cards and cook my mince pies, gingerbread and other goodies. I know time is running out but I'm sure everything will be finished and ready before the big day arrives.

Anyway it's time for new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges and it's our last one of the year. For this challenge we want to see your "white on white" projects.

For my card I have used the Meljen's Designs image "Bundled little Snowboy" coloured with Koh-i-noor pencils and blended with Sansador. The DP's are just plain white paper that's been embossed with a couple of cuttlebug embossing folders.

I thought I was going to struggle with this challenge because I love colour but I really enjoyed it and love the effect of the white on white.

LOTV Christmas Dance Challenge Card

I fancied a change so I decided to do something I don't normally do which is colour the image with distress inks. Not a copic in sight for this card.....which was a struggle..

Creative Craft Challenge - Fancy Edges

It's been a couple of weeks since I've made a card, but my excuse is I've been busy making 14 "Thriller" costumes for my Brownies for their item in the West Bromwich Girlguiding Gang Show, and with dress rehearsals, and then three performances, it's been a busy couple of weeks.

But it's all over now so things are starting to get back to normal. So it's time for a new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges today and the theme for this fortnight is "Fancy Edges".

Creative Craft Challenge - Congratulations

How amazing is this, it's our 2nd anniversary over at Creative Craft Challenges so congratulations are in order.

So because it's our anniversary it seems only fitting that the theme for this fortnights challenge is "CONGRATULATIONS".

Amazingly I have made two cards for this challenge using images from two of our sponsors (not quite sure how I managed that. I just couldn't get the the images to print correctly, and when I'd sorted that I ran out of ink so then at 8.45pm last night there was a mad dash out of the house to get to the nearest Staples store).

Crafty Calendar October Challenge - Spooky

I can't believe it's the 1st October already. Isn't the unseasonal weather gorgeous. I got back late last night from a weeks holiday in Torquay, I should have packed more t-shirts and less woolly jumpers. So now I'm all refreshed and revitalised (I wish), I could do with another holiday to get over it.

Anyway another early post as I'm heading off to work in a little while. This months challenge over at Crafty Calender is my choice so I decided on "Spooky". So get those Halloween colours out.

For my card I couldn't decide which image to use so decided to use both of them. I have used a digi image by Make it Crafty called "Haunted Halloween House" and "Batty Princess" from Kraftin Kimmie. Both have been coloured with copics. The DP's were free with this months issue of Making Cards magazine.

Lili of the valley playing guitar birthday card

I just thought I'd share this card that I made for one of my brothers, it was his birthday last week but this is the first chance I've had to get this post done.

I've used the LOTV image "Playing Guitar" coloured with copics. This image reminds me of my brother when he was younger and going through his wannabee rock star phase....not sure that this phase has really ended though.

Creative Craft Challenge - Buttons and Bling

Another fortnight has passed which means it's time for a new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges.

Our theme for this fortnight is "BUTTONS & BLING" which gave me an excuse to get all sparkly (not that I really need an excuse...)

Crafty Calendar Challenge - Let sleeping bears lie !!

It's the first Saturday in September, so it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Calendar Challenge.

As it's September and some animals will soon start to think about hibernation our theme for this months challenge is "Let Sleeping Bears Lie", so it's time to get those cute bear images out (they don't have to be asleep!).

For my card I have used a digi image called "Mushroom Bear" by our sponsor for this challenge Crafty Sentiments Design. The DP's are from the Sugar & Spice paper pack by Dovecraft.

I decided to attempt a new technique for this card, something I'd never tried before so I printed the image onto Kraft card and coloured with Dewant coloursoft and Koh-i-noor pencils, will definitely try this again.

Have a Wizard birthday !!!!!

Just a quick post to share the card I made for Martyn's birthday. I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday, and he decided we would go to see the new Harry Potter film, so it was only fitting that he had a wizard themed card.

I've used the LOTV image "Abracadabra" coloured with copics. The DP's are from the MME paper pack - Lime Twist Out Of The Blue. The owl (to represent Hedwig) and the cauldron are from a clear stamp set (I think it's by Woodware)

I love Harry Potter and the new film is absolutely brilliant!!!

Creative craft challenge - Summertime

August is here and it's time for another challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges. With all the sunshine and warm weather we're now having, it seems fitting that the challenge for this fortnight is Summertime.

I have two cards to share for this challenge, the first is using the digital image Ice Cream Tia by one of our sponsors Some Odd Girl. The image has been coloured with copics and the DP is by DCWV. I loved making this card, Ice Cream Tia and the sandcastle (which is a Meljen image) were great to colour and I had so much fun experimenting with different materials trying to get a textured effect for the sand.

I tried Flowersoft which was good but didn't give me the effect I was looking for. Martyn suggested I try somewhere that sold model making supplies. In Hobbycraft I found a bag of tiny gravel pieces made by Hornby that which was exactly what I was looking for (I presume model/train enthusiasts use it to build their tracks). I tried lots of different adhesives but got the best result by using silicone glue to attach it to the card.

This card is using an image by another of our sponsors, Alfie by Rainbow Studios. The image is coloured with copics ( I was trying to go for summertime colours) and the DP are from the Vicki B Collection paper pack by Bobunny.

Creative Craft Challenge - 3D it

It's Tuesday again so that means it's time for a new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges. The theme this fortnight is "3D it" so we need to see a bit of decoupage or lots of layers.

For my card I have used a stamp called "Go girl go" which is by one of our sponsors for this challenge "Love to Stamp". I've coloured her with copics and added a couple of layers. Being so thin I found the hula hoop a little difficult to decoupage, in the end I cheated and just used a bit of silicone glue behind the one section that went across her body. The DP's are from the MME Lime Twist "Happy Go Lucky" paper pack.

Creative Craft Challenge - Pretty Blossoms.

Here I am at work during my lunch rushing my posting again, it doesn't help that my computer keeps chucking me off the Internet, anyway enough of that, today it's time for a new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges.

For those you who have been across to Creative Craft lately, you will have noticed we've been having a few problems with posts disappearing and lots of other spooky stuff happening so we have decided to change our address. Crafty Calendar July Challenge - Under The Sea

It's the first Saturday in July so it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Calendar. Due to me being at work today, I've scheduled this post so hopefully when this goes live the summer weather is still here, the sun is shining and I'll be able to enjoy it when I finish at 2pm.

For this month the theme is "Under the Sea" and for my card I have used the Kraftin' Kimmie stamp "Mermaids - Calliope" coloured with copics. You can't really tell on the picture but I went over the tail with a clear stardust pen to give it a little bit of a shimmer.

The DP was an odd sheet of 12 x12 that I had. It's called "Bubble Bath" and it's from the Splash Dance range by Imaginisce.

It seems to have been a while since I posted a card and this is one of the reasons why.

For my birthday back in December, Martyn bought me tickets to seen Bon Jovi in Bristol and the day finally arrived this week.

This was my 15th time seeing them and they are always absolutely brilliant. Decided to travel light and I only took my small compact camera with me, but the pictures didn't turn out too bad. Here's just a couple of the 400ish pictures that I took (even to me that sound a little excessive but I did have the camera on continuous shoot mode!) ......

Happy first day of summer!!! Does it feel like summer where you are? It's Tuesday 21st June and that means it's time for a new challenge at Creative Craft Challenges. Nearly half the year has gone already!!! I'll have to start thinking about Christmas cards soon!!!!

Creative Craft Challenge - Movable Parts!

It's time for a new challenge over a Creative Craft Challenges and out theme for this fortnight is movable parts.

I had to put my thinking cap on for this one and a decision was made to have the central image mounted in an aperture on thread so it spins and sways.

I used the Stitchy Bear image "Goth Angel" coloured with copics and the DP's are from the Bo Bunny "Vicki B" paper pack.

I'd never made a card like this before, but I love the effect and will definitely do this again.

Gorjuss Girls "I Found My Family in a Book" challenge card

This is for my brothers partner Kerry who I introduced to the "Gorjuss Girls" a couple of years ago with a birthday card I made for her. She loves them and now has a handbag and some of the cross stitch kits so I thought I would use one of the new stamps for this years card.

This card is based on the sketch over at Papertake Weekly and because Kerry loves to read I have used the Gorjuss stamp "I found my family in a book" coloured with copics. The DP's are from the Daisy & Dandelion "Picnic Patch" paper pack.

It was traumatic but I resisted the urge to add lots of embellishments as I normally do, so no flowers just a piece of ribbon and 3 pearls.

Creative Craft Challenge - Vintage/Distressed

Is everybody back to normal after all these bank holidays? I went back to work yesterday which was a bit of a struggle after having over a fortnight off but I consoled myself with the thought that it's only 3 weeks to the next bank holiday.

It also means that it's time for another challenge over at Creative Craft Challenge. The theme this time is Vintage/Distressed.

Now I always struggle with vintage/distressed cards, because it's not my natural style I suppose, but I gave it my best shot and I produced two DT cards, one is supposed to be vintage and the other is my attempt at distressed.

Creative Craft Challenge - Recycle it !!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter - I'm enjoying the break from work and the gorgeous weather. I'm off for a whole TWO weeks. We were going to go away but Martyn was made redundant in March so that kind of changed our plans. He has been lucky and has found a new job so I've now got two weeks to myself so I might fit a bit of crafting in!!

It's time for a new challenge over at Creative Craft Challenge and the theme is recycle. For my card I have used the Hero Arts stamp "Bird in a Cage" which I haven't used in absolutely ages.

The recycling part of my card is:

The brown backing paper is a used envelope (I knew I'd find a use for all those bills that arrive).
A couple of pages from an old book edged with chalk inks as a piece of backing paper and to make the flower (I did find it a bit sacrilegious to tear up a book, I consoled myself with the fact it was only a cheap one, and wasn't that good!!!).
The ribbon is one that I saved from a box of choccies.
The button is from an old shirt.

Creative Craft Challenge - Embossing

Aren't the weeks flying by so quickly, it's time for another challenge over at Creative Craft Challenge and it only seems five minutes since the last one.

This fortnight the theme is embossing. For my card I have used a digital image by our sponsor Doodle Dragon Studios. The image is Cheshire Cat from the Alice set coloured with copics. It wasn't my intention but the card ended up just a bit too pink!

You can't really tell but I have two types of embossing on my card. I dusted off my embossing powders which I don't seem to have used for ages and I got my cuttlebug folders out for a bit of dry embossing (another craft item that I hardly use...I don't know why!)

I used a cuttlebug folder on some coredinations card stock to create the embossed background and the sentiment is stamped and embossed with purple embossing powder. Also the flower in the corner is nice and glossy with about 6 layers of purple embossing powder on it.

This is the card I made for Martyn's mom. I had strict instructions from him "I don't want anything too "CUTESY". I then went instantly into a panic......no cute images.....does he know me at all.

I finally decided on an image from the Papermania "Birdsong" range. Well he is a birdwatcher ....it seemed appropriate.

I stamped the image using a Rich Cocoa Memento ink pad and coloured it with copics. The DP's are from the Papermania "Birdsong" paper pack.

Tilda Mother's Day Challenge Card

Just a quick post to show the Mother's Day card I've made for my Grandma. It's based on a sketch over at Simon Says Stamp. I've used the Magnolia image "Tilda with Flower Pot" coloured with copics. The DP's are from a Craftwork Card paper pack which was a freebie with an issue of Cardmaking & Papercraft.

I had so much trouble with the hair. I just couldn't get it to the colour I wanted, I think this was my fourth attempt which I finaly settled on.

While I was making this card, I had the TV on in the background and I noticed a set of felt flowers for sale on QVC and I thought they would be perfect for this card then I remembered that I had some scraps of felt left over from an activity I'd done at brownies. I used my Marianne Ribbon Flower 3 Die and my cuttlebug and I think they look as good as any that I could have bought.

The theme over at Creative Craft Challenge this fortnight is Bookmarks. I got a bit carried away and ended up making four. These Bugaboo images are so gorgeous I just couldn't decide which one to use so I had to use them all.

I can't believe it's February already....and for this challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges love is in the air. This fortnights theme is "HEARTS AND FLOWERS".

For my card I have used the fab LOTV stamp "Love Grows" coloured with copics. The DP's are mainly from the Papermania pack "Lemon Sorbet". I'm not normally a yellow person, but when I made this card it was grey outside and I was longing for a bit of sunshine (plus I have a mountain of yellow papers that I never use).

Creative Craft Challenge - New Year Resolutions

The theme for this fortnights challenge over at Creative Craft is "New Year Resolutions".

I normally make the same resolutions as most people - Eat less, exercise more and spend less money so for my card I decided to show one of my resolutions that will definitely get broken.

I have some colouring pages that I downloaded for my Brownie pack from the Newtons Law website and I have used one of them for this card. The image is coloured with copics and the DP's are from my stash.

Sketch and Stash Challenge 51 - 2 Year Blogaversay Celebration

Time for another challenge over at Sketch and Stash. Time is going by so fast I've just realised that it's only 5 more sleeps to Christmas!!!!.

We have a celebration for this challenge because it's our 2 year blogaversary - and we have LOADS of prizes on offer.

For this fortnights challenge all you need to do is make a card using one of our last 50 sketches ... for my card I've used Sketch 8 and my new stash that I've used is the gorgeous "Reindeer Tilda" coloured with copics. I had a little trouble with the hair - I was making this card for my Grandma and I wanted Tilda to have reddish hair (just like her Granddaughter) but I always have trouble colouring red hair and I'm not sure it tuned out right!!!!.

I've never done a recipe challlenge before so for my card I have used the LOTV stamp "James Bear - Pile of presents" coloured with copics and koh-i-noor pencils. The DP's are from my stash. You can't really tell from this picture because the papers look white but they are actually a bluey green colour and I think they come from one of the Papermania packs.

Starlight Starbright - Creative Craft Challenge

Time for another challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges and this fortnight the theme is "Starlight Star bright", so we need to see lots of stars on your projects for this challenge.

For my card I have used the gorgeous Lili of the Valley image "Teddy with star" coloured with copics, It doesn't show on this photo very well but my teddy has been eating his Ready Brek (or any other oat based breakfast cereal) and has a slight orange glow around him which I did using Koh-i-noor pencils and blending them out with sansador. The DP's are from the Dovecraft paper pack "Christmas Fancy".

It doesn't happen very often but I got my sewing machine out for this card (if you don't look too closely you might even miss the wonky stitches!!)

Happy Halloween. Here's my last Halloween card for this year and now I really must get on with my Christmas cards.

Just a quick post tonight. This card is using the Pollycraft image "Bronson and Beaker Branch" coloured with copics. This image is one of my favorites to colour. The DP's are from the DCWV "Rose tinted Christmas". The Snowflake is cut from acetate with a layer of glossy accents and then covered with glamour dust.

Lili of the Valley Christmas Card

The image on this card is "Star of Wonder" from Lili Of The Valley coloured with copics and Koh-i-noor pencils. The Dp's are from the Dovecraft - Jolly Happy Christmas paper pack. It doesn't show very well on the picture but I got a bit carried with my stickles - I went around the edge of the image, sentiment and on the edges of the roses.

This is my DT card for this fortnights challenge over at Creative Craft challenges and the theme is "Glamour Puss"

I know I'm a couple of days late but every night this week I've been busy cutting out teddy bear shapes in fun fur for my Brownie meeting tonight and I can't believe the mess I've made of the spare/craft room - They decided they wanted do do their Toymakers badge and just had to make teddy bears, I'm going to be finding bits of fur for weeks.

For my card I've use the Pink cat Studio image "Kitty Fashionista " and I think she looks glamorous.

Chocolate Lime Christmas Card

I decided for this card to follow the colour challenge of "chocolate and green" over Crafty Catz. As you can see I'm still in Christmas mode, I wasn't sure if this colour combo would work for a Christmas card but I think it turned out OK....

I have used the Whiff Of Joy stamp "Wee and Reindeer" coloured with copics and the DP is from the Dovecraft "Jolly Happy Christmas" paper pack. The snowflakes are made using the Marianne D Swedish Ice Star die cutter set with a covering of lots and lots of my favourite glamour dust.

Rock Idol Birthday Card

Vintage Style Christmas Tilda

This card is different to my normal style of cards but I fancied a bit of a change.

I have used the Magnolia image "Tilda with Tinsel" coloured with copics. I've applied a layer of Crackle Paint over the top of the image and then sponged it with "Brushed Corduroy" Distress ink. The Christmas script DP is from the DCWV "Christmas Wishes" paper pack and the pink dotty paper is from a Laura Ashley paper pack.

The flowers have been made from a sheet of Laura Ashley paper using my cricut.
