Wild Rose Studio Birthday Card

Did everyone have a great Monday?  It was my first day back at work today after a week off and I thought the day was going to drag but it whizzed by.

Just a quick post today to share a card I made for a friend who's birthday was last week  (I'm not late sending the card, she received it last week, I'm just delayed in blogging about it).

I have used:
Wild Rose Studio "Gardening Millie" coloured with copics.
DP are from the Forever Friends Kraft Notes paper pack

Just to let you know that the DT call over at Crafty Calendar has been extended to Friday 3rd May so you have another two weeks to register your interest.

Now must dash,  Broadchurch is about to start, it's the final episode tonight so hopefully the murderer will be revealed, brought to justice and we'll have #closure.

Creative Craft Challenge - Kenny K Red, White & Blue

Good afternoon to all.  I'm off work this week and at the moment the sun is out, finally the weather has turned a little warmer, only hope it lasts!  When I'm off work I lose track of the days but as far as I'm aware it's Tuesday so that means we have new challenge over at Creative Craft.

The theme for this fortnight is "Red, White and Blue" and my choice of image gave me chance to get a male themed card made.

I have used:
Kenny K Huge Hero digi stamp coloured with copics.
The DP's are a mixture of various items of stash.

Hardly any embellishments on this card, didn't want to detract from the image and didn't think it really needed them.

Crafty Calendar Challenge - Sunshine and Showers

It's the first Saturday of the month so it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Calendar.  I'm a bit late posting today, I woke up today to find my boiler wasn't working so I have no hot water or heating, and it's won't be fixed until Monday so I'm hoping the weather forecasts are wrong and the temperatures aren't going to be dropping to below freezing for the next two days.

This months challenge is "Sunshine and Showers",  to take my mind off all the cold weather I went with "Sunshine" for my card.

I have used:
Tiffany Reading Book by MilkCoffee coloured with copics.
The DP's are various from stash.

Creative Craft Challenge - Alter It

Morning all.  Have you eaten too many Easter eggs?  The bank holiday is over, so for me it's back to work today.

Today we have a new challenge over at Creative Craft and for this fortnight the theme is "Alter It".

I had so many problems with this challenge.  I have three unused picture frames so I decided I'd have a go at a bit of paint distressing.

First I sanded the frame, then I painted it silver grey, which was paint that I had left over from decorating the bedroom this weekend.   Once that had dried I rubbed a candle over parts of the frame that I wanted to distress after the final coat.  I then painted the frame green.  When that coat had dried I lightly rubbed sandpaper over the parts that I coated with the candle and removed the green paint to let the grey show through.

It sounds so easy when I write it down, why did I have so many problems in practise?

You can see by the photo above there is only one finshed frame,  the other two that I've painted are disasters,  I have sanded them to get rid of everything that I'd done so those are still works in progress, hopefully they'll be finished by tomorrow.

The fabric in the frame was a purchase from Birmingham Rag Market  (I do intend to make a cushion from the rest of it, not sure when this will happen though).
